Welcome to the "Fountain of Youth" -  our senior care program that will help provide wellness for your pet's golden years!
As we all know, doctors recommend more comprehensive testing for us when we reach a certain age - and the same is true for your pet. As the Essex Middle River Veterinary Center, we are gearing our program to begin when your pet reaches eight years of age. This is a prime time to concentrate on health maintenance for your pet.

The Fountain of Youth Senior Wellness Program recommends semi-annual exams, annual blood testing, urinalysis and other tests needed to keep your pet healthy. The program is designed to address health risks and to detect diseases in the early stages, when they are most treatable.

The Fountain of Youth Senior Wellness Program will also help make you more aware of the protocols we will follow, and will keep you informed of possible changes in your senior pet's health. When you begin the program, we will give you a folder with information sheets that discuss the diseases that are more prevalent in senior pets, offer information on products, medication and testing, and describe symptoms that might indicate the presence of a disease or condition.

By filling out this list and bringing to your Fountain of Youth Senior Wellness Program appointment, it will help us focus on specific areas of concern related to your pet's specific condition. We will use this check list at subsequent exams to monitor your pet's progress.

We are glad to offer a program that allows us to work together to provide your pet many healthy years to come. Please call to schedule your appointment to begin, and mention that you are scheduling for the Fountain of Youth Senior Wellness Program ! The exam fee will remain the same.

Every month the staff will choose a senior pet to feature on this special Senior Pet of the Month page. We will be selecting the Senior Pet of the Month from our pool of patients that are currently enrolled in Essex Middle River Veterinary Center's  Fountain of Youth Senior Pet Program.
